Feb. 14-- Feb. 14--Allie Massner set goals for herself when she came to Iowa Wesleyan University in Mount Pleasant to play women's basketball.
Massner, who was a reserve player for much of her career at Mediapolis High School before earning a starting spot as a senior, wanted to play basketball with her older sister, Darby. She did that the last two seasons.
This season, Massner set her sights on reaching the 1,000-point scoring plateau, a mark within striking distance entering her senior season.
Massner accomplished that goal on Wednesday night in the Tigers' 74-55 loss to Greenville University at Ruble Arena.
Massner etched her name in the Iowa Wesleyan record books, scoring 28 points to put her at 1,003 points for her career.
Massner entered the night at 975 career points. Massner had just eight points at halftime, but she drained five 3-pointers in the second half, going 7-of-10 from the field, to add 20 more points to her total.
The 1,000th point came from a free throw.
Massner also led the Tigers with seven rebounds.
